Giving - Christmas, Birthdays and March
8th -some advice.

There
are three times of the year that every woman in Russia
receives gifts, her birthday and March 8th, and Christmas-New
Years. If you wish to make a good impression about your
romantic intentions, and if you are at all serious about
a woman, you should not miss any of these dates.
Your lady's birthday is the first
critical celebration where you can choose to make a
great impresssion (or not). As in western cultures a
Russian's woman's birthday is her chance to stand out
among her peers - her special day. (Any of the gifts
that we list on the gifts page
are appropriate) March 8th is special for a woman only
if she receives NO presents, then everyone notices and
she is embarassed. (This year we had one of our women
come to the office to have pictures taken of her with
flowers that she had bought for herself-so no one would
know that she didn't get any). Order

Christmas and New Years are really
one holiday, and gifts can be given for Dec 25 or for
Jan 1. Traditional Christmas gifts are appropriate in

March 8th is a special day for

| March 8th is currently a celebration
of the beauty and importance of women themselve, a homage
to their roles in the home, and love and mothering. This
is a celebration of the essential DIFFERENCE between men
and women in Russia, and the way that all men say
THANK YOU to all Russian women for bearing them,
loving them, feeding them, and putting up with them. This
is a very important day for the women you are writing! |
For Russian women it is
not the gift as much as the social meaning that the gift conveys.
Maybe in the US or any other Western culture, what the
gift is makes a difference. In Russia the reason the
gift is given is the most important thing. Missing a woman's
birthday says plainly to her that she is not important to
you, not special and that you are not serious. Sending a great
present the following day will not repair the problem. Better
a single rose on time, than the biggest stuffed rabbit, late.
All that said, you must
give us time to buy and deliver the present for you exactly
on the correct day. Do NOT call us on the day of her birthday
and think that your gift can be delivered the same day. For
birthday gifts we need 1 week notice. For March 8th gifts,

Roses
are the traditional and almost mandatory gift for March
8th. Perfume and chocolates are almost as important, and
in that order.
For Birthdays we have many choices on for you on the gift
order form. Remember, we MUST have your orders at
least seven days before her birthday and 10 days before
