The Tea Plantation Adventure

Our happily engaged clients Jon and Tatiana at the Tea Plantation at Dagomys.

Departing from your apartment in Sochi, your adventure will take you into the hills of Dagomys, 13 miles from Sochi. This is Russia's tea capital and a favored holiday resort for many tourists to the greater Sochi area. You'll enjoy stunning views of greater Sochi, the sea and the mountains from a view point on the slopes of Mount Armyanka. On your trip you will be invited to the authentic Russian tea house to try the local tea along with hazel nuts, pies, fruit, jam and honey. You will listen to Russian traditional songs and you will practice Russian dancing in a traditional matchmaking old fashioned
ceremony. Click here to see pictures of the traditional Russian marriage ceremony!

A Taste of Russian traditional customs and ceremonies.

The Tea Plantation Adventure is a tour that includes a visit to the Tea Plantation, the Tea house, a Matchmaking ceremony, and Russian folk music followed by a wonderful tea tasting with traditional Russian folk foods.

Our (now happily married) clients Valentina and Marshall in front of the Tea House - a Russian farmer's izba.

Our happy clients Natasha, Jack, Marshall and Valya
in Tea house with traditional Russian decorations. In the right corner is a Russian Orthodox icon. It's was a necessary part of every Russian home in the previous century.

Two happy clients rest for a moment in the Russian Izba. You can see Russian traditional SAMOVARS behind them on the table. A Samovar is a special big tea pot that boiles water using live coals.

Preparing Russian tea is a special ceremony. First, boiling water from the Samovar is used to brew a very strong concentrated tea in a special small porcelain tea pot. The tea is then prepared by filling your cup from the samovar and then adding the brewed concentrate to taste. Then you're ready to drink and toast. Russians use to say : "Pej na zdorovije !" ( Drink for your health!)

Below, our clients enjoy a cup of fragrant Russian tea.
Traditional Russian Tea is very delicious, fragrant, and strong with special a little bit of roughness - a bite! Russian's know that drinking this tea increases your energy and helps you to recover and prevent colds. Russian people like to drink tea during all times of the day.

Warmed by the Black Sea, and shielded by mountains to the north, Sochi enjoys a sub tropical warm micro-climate. Sochi has the same latitude as the northern states in USA (43°) but is so warm that it is the most northern Tea growing region in the world.
